Client asked:
I developed tinnitus after a severe cold and ear infection.
Our Response:
Hello Anne Marie,
Tinnitus often does result after one has been taking decongestants and anti-biotics to treat the sinus and allergies. It's very ordinary for individuals who have sinus problems to occasionally experience tinnitus symptoms. This is because the mucous builds up and eventually blocks the internal ear canal which causes pressure and may induce the ear ringing symptoms. This added build up of pressure can not only cause tinnitus but also some inner ear infections.Sufferers of sinusitis, rhinitis and allergies will without fail at some time in their lives hear tinnitus noises. Tinnitus from sinus may also be caused by your body reacting to drugs, antibiotics or antihistamines. After long periods of taking antibiotics or antihistamines to restrain the sinus problems tinnitus is often heard. It is the antibiotics and antihistamines that cause the mucous in the inner ear to become too thick and viscous to easily drain clear through the very small Eustachian tubes. Due to the Eustachian tubes being very small this added build up of mucous in the inner ear canal will start causing problems and maybe even tinnitus.
It is not a very nice condition to live with but you can rest assured that you do not have to live with this condition. We do have excellent results with this tinnitus type.
