Hockey Games Can Cause Hearing Loss…
A new study from the Universtity of Alberta has found that every fan at last years NHL playoff games received about “8100 per cent of their daily noise dose without any hearing protection.”
The fact that almost no average hockey fan uses ear protection at a game means that after as little as 6 minutes of the game, they have passed the safety threshold of exposure to loud noise allowed on a daily basis.
That means after six minutes most of the fans started experiencing some hearing loss, and those with hearing loss certainly caused additional hearing loss.
For those of us that are [tag-self]tinnitus[/tag-self] sufferers, this is bad news as we often forget to take ear protectors to stadium and sports events and the noise levels typically experienced at these events are simply dangerous to the average fan, never mind tinnitus and [tag-ice hearing loss ]hearing loss[/tag-ice] sufferers.
Most people can’t comprehend the dangers of exposure to loud noises at these types of events and as such fans that attend many games are actually putting themselves at significant risk where even the cheapest of earplugs would prevent further hearing loss damage and aggravated [tag-tec]tinnitus[/tag-tec] levels!
My beat advice is to get a couple of sets of ear plugs and keep them with you, in the car, in your handbag, in your wife or girlfriends handbag, wherever!
Just keep the handy so you can easily protect yourself from further damage to those delicate little inner organs that provide such an essential service to us!
