Anxiety Can Cause Tinnitus

Stress and anxiety causes tinnitus indirectly. Although there are several causes of tinnitus that have been identified, from hearing loss, ear infections, ototoxic drugs, loud noises, tumors, meniere’s disease and circulatory problems, there are also what we would call indirect causes.

Some food in our diet indirectly causes tinnitus. A high intake of salt will cause fluid retention in the ears and causes tinnitus problems, and so do excessive intake of caffeine, alcohol and nicotine which gives circulatory problems.

Stress just like anxiety causes tinnitus since they have been found out to aggravate an existing case of tinnitus. Stress and anxiety presents itself as a problem in a person with tinnitus because most tinnitus sufferers feel threatened by the ringing sounds they experienced.

Of course who would not be threatened when you are hearing sounds that other people don’t hear plus the fear that you might be losing your sense of hearing.
