Tinnitus Cause?

When I was pregnant w/ my second child in 2005 (We had just moved into a new house after going through the exhaustive building process), I noticed that the hearing in my left hear was not as it used to be (very muffled).
My OB Dr. said it may be due to the extra fluid and to wait and see what happens after delivery. I had my hearing tested and it was discovered that I have an 80% high pitch hearing loss in my left ear.
I also suffer from seasonal allergies and depression (I take over-the-counter Clariton as needed and 100 mg. of the genaric Zolft daily-which I began taking 11 months ago).
Prior to the recognizable hearing loss, I believe my left ear drum ruptured while on an inter-country flight in Russia in 1998, though I did not have this confirmed by a Dr. It did take about a week for my left ear to feel normal.
It wasn’t until after having my hearing tested that I noticed the ear ringing. It would come and go, sometimes high pitched and sometimes low. Last night I started to have the loudest ear ringing I’ve ever experienced. My left ear hearing seems worse and the noice of my son playing seems to echo in my head long after they have stopped.
Also, it is almost impossible for me to hear someone speaking to me when there is other background noice (crowded halls at a school). We were boating a fair amount this past weekend, but I don’t know if that is what contributed to this most recent issue. Help! I don’t know the cause of my tinitis and it has become hard for me to live with.
