Two years ago I was volunteering performing music when an inexperienced sound man came into the room and turned the volume and equalizer to the ear monitors I was wearing to 152 decibels. I protected my ears my entire life and this one incident has done so much damage. Ever since I have had severe ear pain, ear spasms, Tinnitus and hearing loss. My health is not well and I am in need of a miracle from God. I understand what Job went though and it took time for a reason. Please pray for healing of my entire body.

I found a prayer that I wrote to God a short while ago:

Dear Lord,

My own life has become my worst nightmare that never ends. My hearing is diminished and the ringing haunts every minute of my life. The spasms in my ears are like a knife. I have pain throughout my body. My only prayer is to be well enough to go to church and help other people again. I miss the joy I once had and the smile that was always on my face. How long do I have to suffer before you will rescue me?

I don't even know how long I've been experiencing tinnitis, but it's a high pitched ringing in two or three tones in both ears, the sound of cicadas, and sometimes a clicking sound.

I noticed hearing loss (from either ear infections as a child or loud noises) when I was in my 20's. I've had three head injuries -- once as a child in a car accident, once when I was college age hitting the bottom of a pool after going down a slide head first, and once having hit my head on the pavement after being struck by a car as a pedestrian. I also have TMJ.

Is the TMJ from one of the head injuries? Is the tinnitis from the TMJ? There are too many variables.

I know that I've lost more hearing in my right ear in the past 5-7 years, because ENT exams show the changes. The left ear shows some hearing loss but not nearly as profound as the right ear.

I've learned to try to tune it (the tinnitis) out most of the time, but sometimes, it's so loud I can't ignore it.

I've been told by the ENT that I could wear hearing aids, but I don't see how magnifying the sounds around me, on top of tinnitis, will help me distinguish what people are saying.
