I often get asked about the merits of acupuncture in the treatment of tinnitus, specifically pulsatile tinnitus. I always counsel that people who are experiencing pulsatile tinnitus should get to their doctor as soon as possible to have their cholesterol levels checked.
Pulstile tinnitus is indicative of high cholesterol levels in the bloodstream so it is imperative that the high levels of cholesterol be brought under control with either a change to the diet or through medications such as Lipitor, or both.
Only then should one try treatments such as acupunture to relieve pulsatile tinnitus.
