White Noises

White Noises

One of the steps that sufferers of tinnitus do is mask the ringing noise. They do this especially when they need to concentrate or when they have problems sleeping at night. Ear ringing tends to get louder at night, when you are about to go to bed, or in quiet environments in general.

In order to make the unwanted sound less noticeable, maskers are often used. The sounds being used to mask tinnitus usually come as white noises. They are being used because they are soothing and pleasant to listen to, unlike the ringing noise.

The sound from your air conditioner or the static noise from your television or stereo can be used as a natural masker. There are commercially available maskers, though, just like white noise MP3s and CDs. The advantage that these commercial maskers have is that they are more convenient to use, especially when you are fond of traveling.

It is important that you do something to control the effects of tinnitus. You cannot afford to let it get in your way, just like getting the sleep that you need to be able to perform the following day.
