Usual Culprit of Hearing Loss
We hear a lot of people wondering how they developed hearing loss, but nothing really is extraordinary when findings turn out to be nerve damage in the inner ears, which is the common cause of hearing loss. It should be noted that the ears are more sensitive, more delicate that we used to believe.
Loud sound is the usual cause of hearing impairment that develops gradually over time, yet it only becomes apparent when the damage is too much. Long term and continual exposure to loud music and noise can cause the delicate structures of the ears to succumb, and it leads to noise-induced hearing impairment. If after loud music exposure, you hear high tones in your head, that’s a sign of sustained acoustic trauma. Ringing in the ears is called tinnitus, and it’s a warning sign.
The best treatment for tinnitus and hearing loss includes avoidance of loud noise. Even if you go to the best doctor and go through expensive therapies if you keep listening to loud iPods and loud stereos, your hearing will not get any better.
Also, patients are advised to take good care of their ears by not inserting anything and not over-cleaning their ears. Many cases of temporary deafness have been associated with misuse of Q-tips, which shouldn’t be inserted in the ears in the first place.
