The Relationship between Meniere’s Disease and Food Allergy
Food is one of the most important factors for survival. However, sometimes inappropriate intake of food can cause different kinds of health problems. One of the food related problems is Meniere’s Disease. This condition is when the sensorineural structures of our ears become inflamed causing vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss. Food allergy has been overlooked as a cause for this problem however there are several studies that showed a strong link between food and inhalant allergies and Meniere’s Disease.
Among patients that were given skin or in vitro tests, it was found out that the patients who are suffering from Meniere’s Disease have positive results. Aside from that, those who have Meniere’s Disease have a higher rate of allergy history. Moreover, they also have a higher prevalence of allergy when allergic levels related to food like egg, milk, flour and rice allergens were measured compared to those who do not have Meniere’s Disease.
When we are looking for the right kind of vertigo, hearing loss or tinnitus treatment, it is very important to know the root cause of the problem. Given this data, it is fair to say that some food groups may trigger or cause Meniere’s Disease. This knowledge can help us prevent this kind of condition from occurring. Furthermore, it can also help those who are suffering from such condition to properly address the problem.
