Vertigo is the most disconcerting of all the symptoms. Episodes can happen anytime, and when you feel dizzy, stop whatever it is you’re doing and sit or lie down that instant. It helps if you avoid making quick movements until the episode subsides. You will feel debilitated after the attacks, so it’s advisable if you rest instead of resuming to your activities. Vertigo can cause you to lose your balance and fall. The likelihood of injury during a vertigo attack is high, so stay where you are and don’t move.
You should also learn how to manage anxiety and stress because these are triggering factors, though not all patients experience attacks when they’re stressed. Stress, for instance, can worsen tinnitus in Meniere’s disease patients. As a result, part of any tinnitus treatment is stress management.
