Protecting Yourself from Inner Ear Disorders

By John On March 2, 2011 Under Ringing In Ears

Our ears are made not only for us to hear and distinguish sounds but also to give us a sense of balance. Our body positioning actually depends on the fluids in our inner ear. When this area of the ear becomes dysfunctional, we do not only lose the sense of hearing but the sense of balance as well. It would be very helpful for us to know the things that can harm our ears and the things that we can do to avoid them and keep our ears healthy.

There are many kinds of diseases and ear conditions that we can or may actually acquire. They can range from the ones that have very minimal effects on our daily lives to the ones that can utterly change the way we live. There are some that can be cured with simple remedies and there are others that require more elaborate kinds of treatments. To list some of them, we can start with hearing loss. This can actually be a result of aging or the abrupt or prolonged exposure to loud levels of sounds. Another kind of ear disease is Tinnitus or more commonly referred to as ringing ears. This ear condition bring about a constant ringing, chirping, clicking, hissing or roaring sound in the ears. Aside from that, Meniere’s Disease is also among those ear diseases that can really be annoying and disabling. This is an inner ear disorder wherein the sufferer experience bouts of vertigo, deafness and Tinnitus.

These are just some of the diseases that can affect our ears and there are many other kinds of ear diseases and conditions. Although some of them might not have a definitive cure such that of Tinnitus, there are things that we can do to prevent these diseases. First of all, we have to understand that noises can affect our ears. Loud levels of noises and sounds can harm our ears. What you can do is to keep the volume of your personal music devices low or make sure to wear ear protection if you work or stay in a noisy environment. Aside from that, stress has very big contribution to our health. Although stress is a normal feeling, a large dose of it essentially destroys our health and that including our ears. So try to be as positive as you can be.

Finally, Food will determine the wellness of your ears. Try to eat the kinds of food that can make your inner ear healthy. Some of them would have to be the ones that are rich in Zinc and Vitamin B. So, before we indulge in activities or put food in our mouth, we should always keep in mind that prevention is always better than trying to find cures to stop ringing in the ears and the other kinds of ear diseases that are sometimes not really available.
