The noise that you hear in your ear that others around you do not hear is considered tinnitus.  The sound of tinnitus differs from others. There are people who describe tinnitus as ringing, humming, and buzzing. Others tinnitus sufferers may hear low humming in ear. Tinnitus is not permanent and have variable occurrence.  It is a common disorder that affected many lives.  Millions of people have some level of tinnitus. For some, the ringing in their ears is distressing enough for them to seek medical help. But, tinnitus isn’t a disease. It’s an indication that can be caused by a number of medical conditions. Tinnitus may be the result of age-related hearing loss or ear injury, or it may be an indication of a chronic disease of your circulatory system.

The noise associated with tinnitus may be heard in one ear, both ears or in the middle of the head. The noise might be low, medium or high-pitched. In some cases of tinnitus, the ringing in the ear is passing that eventually disappear on its own but in worse cases, it becomes a permanent disability.

Tinnitus can be caused by head trauma from a serious head blow, hearing loss, prolonged exposure to loud noise or jaw misalignment associated with ear problems. Some underlying causes are alarming that it requires medical procedure to resolve the problem such as tumor.
