Eustachian Tube Disorder

By julius On November 5, 2008 Under Ringing In Ears, t-gone

A person may experience tinnitus for several reasons. One possible cause is Eustachian tube disorder. The Eustachian tube is a tubular passageway that links the throat to the middle ear. It helps maintain equal pressure on both sides of tympanic membrane for proper transfer of sound waves.

Normally, the Eustachian tubes open and close like when a person chews, swallows or yawn. When these tubes are blocked, or the lining become inflamed the air pressure in the eardrum becomes become greater than the air pressure in the middle ear driving the eardrum inward. The eardrum becomes stressed and does not move normally which end result to the feeling of fullness in the ear, dulled hearing and tinnitus.
Tinnitus from Eustachian tube disorder is caused by colds, sinus ear or throat infection, glued ear, allergies and ear blockade. All these mentioned causes contribute to the Eustachian tube disorder and tinnitus. Normally, we opt for prescription drugs in treating the discomfort without considering the side effects of it. Some prescription drugs such as decongestants for colds and antihistamines for allergies can bring relief to discomfort. Just make sure that the prescription or over the counter drug you take are non ototoxic. Ototoxic drugs can cause or worsen the existing tinnitus.

Eustachian tube disorder can be associated with sinus tinnitus. It is caused by adverse effect of drugs such as antihistamines and antibiotics. These drugs causes the mucous in the ear become gooey making impossible passage to the tiny tubes ensuing mucous buildup in the ear. This results to ear pressure that often leads to ear infection and tinnitus.

It is very essential to identify the main cause of the disorder in order make the treatment easier. If the Eustachian tube disorder originated from your sinus, you can check out some sinus tinnitus remedies T-gone.com to relieve tinnitus causes from sinus problems.
