Vertigo Causes Tinnitus

By julius On November 11, 2008 Under Meniere's Disease, Ringing In Ears, t-gone

Have you ever had that sensation of buzzing ears ringing with sounds or noises that you simply can’t understand? Well, that is commonly referred to as tinnitus. Such is a bodily disorder that characterizes a ringing, swishing, or a buzzing kind of sound emanating from the ear or head. It is usually not a serious disease or problem, instead it is just an annoying and irritating sound. Such is not a disease in itself, but a symptom of an underlying condition. However, if such problem is not taken care of, it could likely lead to many other problems. One of the probable cause of tinnitus is vertigo.

Tinnitus is commonly caused by damages of those microscopic endings of the hearing nerve of the ear. Such is due to the amount of damage done to the ear by neglecting proper care. As of today, people are not really that concerned with such exposure to noises. As per example, workers in a factory or building construction are often exposed to high intensity sounds like that of the jackhammer being used. Another common and quite obvious example would be that of teenagers always hooking on their ears with their mp3 players or headsets. Direct exposure to such noises damages your hearing and also the important parts of your ear.

Have you noticed a ringing in your ears every time you take off your iPods or loud music stereos? That my friend is what you call tinnitus. Now that we have established what tinnitus is, let us look further into what vertigo means.

Vertigo is the sensation or feeling of dizziness. A person experiencing vertigo is usually feeling like the world is spinning or that he is surrounded by moving objects. Not being able to stand or stay put, the person experiencing vertigo often feels nauseated and resorts to vomiting. Vertigo is usually caused by a problem or malfunction in one of the inner ears. Example of such is tinnitus. Keeping balanced is maintained when a person has complete control of his senses.  Your ears send in messages to your brain that you are standing erect based on the sounds being heard. Your eyes tell your brain that you are standing upright because you can see it. Your body well responds to your senses and maintains that balance. However, if one of your senses, let’s say, your left ear is hearing a ringing or buzzing sound, then your brain gets a conflicted signal with your right ear. As a result, giving you a sensation that you are imbalanced and that everything around you is spinning. Thus the exact meaning of vertigo.

Since keeping and maintaining a sense of balance is important for people, it is important that once you notice anything like your ears ringing or humming sounds, you must go on to the doctor to keep yourself checked. Look out for the signs and symptoms and keep yourself always healthy. Indeed, vertigo causes tinnitus. And such is not a delightful experience anyone would want.
