Day after day, we don’t take notice of the importance of balance or equilibrium that is sustained within our bodies until we notice something is wrong within our balance.

There may be several diverse factors that cause a disorder to our bodies. One major area pertains to dizziness. More than 8 million physician visits are complains related dizziness. There are many types of dizziness and one of the most common types is vertigo where the victim experience fantasy movement even of the environment is stationary. These symptoms vary depending on the patient. It may be temporary or permanent, at random attacks or persistent sensations.

Main Types of vertigo are spontaneous vertigo, recurrent attacks of vertigo, and positional vertigo. The first two types are caused by abnormal movement while the last is initiated by the position of the head. Vertigo problem may even come from either CENTRAL or PERIPHERAL causes. Central causes if the problem comes from the brain, (these includes migraine, head trauma, stroke or brainstem tumor, sedative drugs and panic). Peripheral, on the other hand is from the ear, (may include Meniere’s Disease, ear trauma, labyrinthitis, and Vestibular Neuronitis). But this is not as critical as central because brain is not the primary part affected.

Though in normal cases especially if vertigo is attack is temporary and manageable, treatment is no needed but before a doctor can help the patient suffering from vertigo, certain tests are conducted in order to distinguish what type of vertigo it is. These tests include an EEG also termed as auditory potential studies, CT scan and MRI scan of the head, and caloric stimulation or testing of eye reflexes.

Treatment of Vertigo dizziness are of different types to help treat the condition. Vestibular suppressants and antiemetic drugs are given depending to the results of tests. Vestibular suppressants are drugs that reduce nystagmus caused by an imbalanced body while antiemetic drugs are used to control nausea. Another option is to have surgical treatment which is done very few times a year but is generally not prescribed for patients. The two categories of surgical treatment are, first the corrective surgical treatment which in many cases, “the process of diagnosis is controversial, or the treatment itself is controversial”. And second which is the more frequently administered treatment is destructive surgical treatment which points out that these procedures eliminates vertigo but in the process, may result to lost of hearing.

When medical treatment or vestibular rehabilitation is not adequate to control the vertigo, patients often take this option especially if the patient has Meniere’s disease or those with a disorder in the middle ear who suffers with vertigo or dizziness symptoms. Although vertigo is not a fatal disorder, it continues to afflict many individuals by giving them symptoms of dizziness along with other unsteady sensations of movement that affects everyday activity.

If the vertigo experienced is caused by Maniere’s Disease, it can be treated using natural vertigo relief treatments, a multifaceted approach which is proven successful in treating the disease. One remedy is formulated to treat vertigo associated with Meniere’s Disease and another one for is for cochlear damage causing tinnitus.
