How to Avoid Hearing Damage Caused by Noise Pollution

[imwb_socialbuzz] By John On May 18, 2011 Under Tinnitus

Partial and total hearing damage can affect how a person can perform his activities of daily living. Noise pollution is identified as one of the most common cause of hearing damages like tinnitus. Damage to hearing can be avoided if one is aware of the dangers that noise can bring to our sense of hearing. So how does one avoid having hearing damage caused by noise pollution?

1. Stay away from noisy streets. Busy streets are usually filled with different vehicles with noisy engines and cars honking. People sometimes neglect the fact that small amounts of noise everyday can slowly damage the hair follicles in your ears and lead to permanent hearing loss.

2. Play your music moderately. To enjoy listening to your favourite music, always remember that you do not need to turn the volume up to a 10. As long as you hear the music clearly and you can still hear people around you speak, you are safe to go.

3. Buy good quality ear plugs. Ear plugs are a good investment. Keep them with you always as you may never know when you may need them to protect your ears from noise.

4. Stay away from the source of the noise. If you are watching a concert, do not sit where the loud speakers are situated. Find a place where you can enjoy the concert but at the same time protect your ears from the noise coming from these very big and loud speakers. These are just very simple steps that can help you avoid ear problems such as ear ringing and hearing loss.
