Hearing Whistling

By julius On December 18, 2008 Under Tinnitus Articles

One of the more common hearing disorders that people are prone to having is the condition called tinnitus. Tinnitus is the medical term for hearing or having a sensation of different kinds of sounds or rather noises in your ears when there is no outside source of the sounds. Several noises that can be heard are that of a ringing, blowing, buzzing and so on. Tinnitus sufferers also profess that most of the time they are hearing whistling sounds.

People getting to experience this kind of hearing disorder may think at first that the phantom sounds are just made up in their head and that such thing can be disregarded. This may sound too easy at first, but as the tinnitus worsens, as the sound of buzzing, ringing and whistling starts to get annoying, this may turn into a stressful situation.

Studies have shown that experiencing tinnitus is somehow normal and that everyone at some point in their lives has had experienced hearing such sounds. Almost everyone experiences this in a milder form that lasts only a few minutes. However, if you are hearing whistling or buzzing sounds in a recurring manner and interfere with your ability to concentrate to sleep, then the tinnitus has worsened and should be taken seriously.

Tinnitus is not in itself a disease, rather it is a hearing disorder. Having such hearing disorder entails that there is some underlying medical condition causing it. Getting your tinnitus checked with the correct specialist is the advisable thing to do. Although there is no known cure for tinnitus, there are many other alternatives as to treating or minimizing the irritable sound.

Masking or making use of white noise is one way of drowning out the sounds of tinnitus. The sounds used here are of a different frequency of sound. The sounds that are heard from the tinnitus masker is that of soothing and relaxing sounds of a stream of water or any other kind of sound that help make the tinnitus sound less irritating.

Therapy and many other tinnitus relief treatments are also efficient in helping tinnitus sufferers forget about the pain, discomfort, stress or hearing whistling sounds which can be quite irritating.
