Anxious and Wondering Why Do My Ears Ring?

[imwb_socialbuzz] By John On February 18, 2013 Under Ringing In Ears

Ringing in one ear or both ears can cause a great deal of anxiety and stress and most people ask us everyday “why do my ears ring”?

Ringing in the ears which is known as tinnitus is not a disease but rather a result of some underlying condition.

The most common cause of ringing in the ears is exposure to loud noise.

The video below will give you a detailed explanation in simple layman’s terms!

“Is there anything I can do to get rid of my raging tinnitus? I have it in both ears, 24 hours a day and it is getting worse. I’ve tried herbal tablets, spent a fortune on acupuncture, and a hearing aid just made everything louder. I’m a fit 68-year-old, but getting very frustrated! Angela Sadler, Godstone, Surrey.

Dr Scurr says… Tinnitus sufferers are among the most distressed patients I meet. As the symptoms cause no physical pain and do not shorten life this may seem odd to nonsufferers, but there is no denying the condition can have a hugely debilitating effect.

At least 10 per cent of the population experience tinnitus at some point – it’s characterised by a hissing, ringing or whistling noise in the ears or head.

Wax, ear infections and heavy colds can all cause tinnitus, as can exposure to loud noises (as anyone who’s ever stood near the speaker stack at a rock concert will know). In these cases, the effects are usually temporary and clear up when the underlying problem is resolved.”

The esteemed Dr Scurr mentions above  that the condition is not life threatening.

  • If however the ringing noises are affecting your sleep, your ability to concentrate or they are stopping you from enjoying life as you used to, then you must seek treatment.
  • If this is the case your best best is to adopt a natural, holistic approach as there are no prescription medications that will cure tinnitus.

Once you are more informed and know more about tinnitus it is so much easier to answer the question why do my ears ring and you can then learn to cope and deal with it so much better.
