How to Stop Ear Ringing

By Fritz On January 19, 2009 Under Ringing In Ears, Tinnitus Articles, hearing loss, tinnitus cure

The worst thing that can happen to a person who has ear ringing is to experience an even louder form of ear ringing that they already have.  This can scare a lot of people, especially if they feel helpless about their condition and it can only make things more difficult than it has already been.  It is very important to learn how to stop ear ringing so you won’t experience what many people are already experiencing.

There are things that should be avoided by those who are looking for ways to reduce ear ringing.  These three things need to be avoided as they are noted to aggravate the ringing in your ears.

Although it has been identified that loud noise is amongst the most common causes of tinnitus, any type of ear ringing will be aggravated with constant or repeated exposure to loud noise.  For those who love listening to music, it is not advisable to turn the volume above 60% nor listen to it for more than 60 minutes at a time.  Otherwise you could be causing more damage to your ears and eventually only hear  much louder ear ringing.

Stress and anxiety on the other hand is a result of a person’s being constantly bombarded by a nagging ear ringing and this should be avoided as it does not help a patient in any way.  Stress and anxiety may be avoided by trying to divert your attention away from the tinnitus and keeping yourself busy with important things to do.  Too much stress will only make the ear ringing louder, thus resulting to more stress and resulting to a never ending tinnitus cycle.

Ototoxicity is a side effect of prescription medicines that one should carefully look out for when you have a condition like a ringing in the ears.  Some medicines have dangerous effects to our ears and can potentially damage our hearing. You can obtain a comprehensive list of prescription drugs that actually cause tinnitus when you download Ellen’s book, Live Tinnitus Free which is totally free of charge.

If you notice any unusual change in your ear ringing upon taking any medicine, it is important that you go back to your prescribing physician.

Of course, instead of just looking for ways to avoid aggravating a ringing in the ears, it is better to find ways how to stop ear ringing.
