Meniere’s Disease And Inner Ear Disorders

By julius On January 23, 2009 Under Meniere's Disease, Ringing In Ears, Tinnitus Relief

What is Meniere’s Disease?  According to health professionals, this disorder is a serious medical condition that is often characterized by symptoms that are associated or similar to the ones caused by dizziness, hearing loss, vertigo, inner ear pressure, tinnitus and nausea.   Just like tinnitus, which causes the incessant hissing, buzzing and ringing in the ears,  Meniere’s Disease and inner ear disorders may cause a great deal of frustration and distress for sufferers.

The occasional symptoms of Meniere’s Disease and inner ear disorders that accompany it include bouts of abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headache, exhaustion, extreme fatigue, vomiting, inability to concentrate, poor memory and disorientation.  Some patients also report feeling extreme sensitivity to light and noise, as well some cases of night blindness, muscle and joint pain, malaise and mild to moderate panic attacks, anxiety and depression.  The individual afflicted with Meniere’s disease also experiences hearing a weird buzzing, shrieking, hissing or ringing ears  The noises caused by tinnitus are an example of just how distressing and annoying this condition could get, and it’s a fact that the disorder has been difficult to treat.

The onset of Meniere’s Disease and inner ear disorders can also be a serious indicator of total hearing loss.  Ear, nose and throat specialists (ENT) continue to stress that the initial stages of hearing loss impairs the person’s ability to hear low-pitched voices and tones. As this condition progresses, the person ability to hear the sound continues to shrink. While most experts will contend that no single identified treatment works for everyone, some other treatment forms however will work for someone else.  Most doctors agree with the notion that each one of us seems to respond differently to a wide array of treatments. The success of a tinnitus treatment also depends on the amount of patience and determination of the sufferer.  Some patients have been reported to become almost symptom-free after simply observing a low-salt diet, while some may require more complex invasive tinnitus relief methods.
