Older suffers of tinnitus can join a study to see if they can be cured or have reduced the amount of tinnitus that they suffer from. Tinnitus is a problem that cannot be cured, only treated, as it occurs in the mind. Suffers usually hear a noise in their head over a constant period of time, making it hard to concentrate or have good hearing. Unfortunately it gets worse over time, and by the time you are older in your years, you will be suffering every day from it.

The new study gives a concentrated form of pure zinc from those who are suffering from tinnitus. This tinnitus study will go on for eight months, four of those months will be the placebo and four will be the actual pill. There will be two groups of individuals, the first group will get the placebo the first and the actual drug second, the second group will be reversed. The study is not a time hog, only five visits required to the hospital and six phone interviews to see how the treatment is working. They are hoping that this will reduce the effect of tinnitus so that people can have closer to normal lives.
