Doing Away with Sound
When most of us leave our homes how do we manage to navigate? How do we interact with others? For most of us we are warned of dangerous situations and we are directed on where to go via a combination of vision and sound. The prospects of doing without one or the other seem almost impossible to most of us. Once we arrive at our destination we are reliant on our sense of hearing to be able to interact with those around us. Most of us simply wouldn’t know what to do if we lost this sense. Reality is many people do live with deafness and their world is a quiet one. Hearing loss does affect many Americans and for them they have no choice but to learn to adapt. These suffers of a condition called tinnitus hear a constant ringing or whirring sound in their ears and this can make it very hard to focus on other external sounds and can lead to chronic and persistent headaches.
