Keeping Safe At Work

People spend a large proportion of their lives at work. For most of us this is no big deal as we work in office or retail environments where the pace of work and the exposure to outside stimuli are well within the ranges of human tolerability and safety. For others though risks are faced each and every time they go to work. These risks can be very severe and instant consequences such as police officers or miners face every time they are on the clock or they can be more prolonged and lead to long-term chronic conditions. This category of risk has to do with either exposure to loud noise or very bright lights or repetitive strain. Any of these types of work can lead to injury over the long-term to the ears, eyes, and joints. Given these risks a huge industry has sprung up around workplace health and safety and a Health and Safety Expo will be highlighting the various safety products. One of the most common workplace injuries is tinnitus or hearing loss. Many workplaces expose workers to significant noise for long durations of time. Over the years this results in gradual and sometimes irreversible hearing loss so wearing appropriate protection is vital.
