Hearing Loss Affects Us All

Hearing Loss Affects Us All

When my uncle started losing his hearing it was like losing a person from our lives. He could no longer participate in our conversations, and absolutely hated wearing his hearing aid. My aunt tried to nag him into wearing it, but it didn’t help. Now she needs to wear a hearing aid but won’t so calling their house is a waste of time because there is nobody that can hear you talk.

Losing your hearing can be depressing and it affects the entire family. You can’t have conversations easily and everyone will try to avoid you because they don’t like having to yell. You think this is just about you, but your entire family and all the relationships you have can be affected by your refusal to acknowledge that your hearing is not working as good as it used to.

Don’t avoid the inevitable. Your body gets older and depending on what you did for a living you might lose some of your hearing; many of us do. You can change your and your families, reality by taking advantage of the great technology available in hearing aids today. Many of the new hearing aids hardly even show and they will make telling your wife or husband, your kids, or even your grandchildren: “I love you” a little bit easier.
