Symptoms of Ringing in Ears

By Fritz On July 27, 2009 Under Tinnitus & Related Blogs, Tinnitus Articles

I was told that the most common symptoms of ringing in ears are a noise heard in the ears or within the head.  From my own experience, I began hearing a very mild ear ringing in my left ear.  This started out as a very mild ringing and I would usually hear it at around 10 in the evening onwards.  This is the time when everyone else in the house has gone to bed and I am left awake since I still do a lot of things in front of my laptop and that is the only time of the day where I can concentrate on my job.

There are nights when I won’t hear the symptoms of ringing in ears and there are also some nights when I would hear something like a very sharp stinging noise.  During these times I would turn on the TV or the air conditioner just to cover the silence in my surroundings.  Sometimes I would doubt I’m just hearing crickets outside the house or whatever insect is making that noise.  This thing really bothers me, especially when at that time at night I would need to focus on writing the articles that I need to submit for the fashion magazine that I am writing for.  There are deadlines that I need to meet and this thing just makes me stressed.

There was really a time that I was not able to meet my deadline.  That was the time when I decided I had to do something and I needed to see my doctor.  During my consultation with my physician, I learned several things.  I learned that the symptoms can vary from one person to another.  So the symptoms that I manifested may not be the same as the one manifested by other people experiencing the same problem.

The good thing was I sought medical help so that the cause of my ear ringing would be determined.  I was informed that several sufferers of tinnitus do not realize the necessity of seeking medical help immediately which makes it more difficult to immediately identify the real problem causing the ringing in ears.

Aside from just hearing a ringing in the ears, other symptoms that would be experienced by people having an ear ringing like mine are a pain in the ears, a partial or complete hearing loss, dizziness or vertigo, lack of sleep, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, and high blood pressure.

As the symptoms of ringing in ears vary, the health problem that caused it also varies.  This is how I understood it from the explanation of my physician.  After asking about the symptoms that I felt, my physician then started to put me into several tests to have the cause of my ringing in ears diagnosed and possibly stop ringing in ears.
