STAR Trek actor William Shatner has admitted being driven close to suicide over tinnitus – a constant ringing in the ears.
The 74-year-old star – who played Captain James T Kirk – thinks the condition was brought on by a movie-set explosion.
He said: “I thought about killing myself.
“It’s like listening to the hiss of a TV not tuned to a channel. I thought I’d go deaf or nuts. I thought it would ruin my career.”
