The Sunday Mail – NEWS – DR DR GARETH: MESSAGE IN A BATTLE

By John On January 23, 2006 Under Tinnitus News

I AM in my 80s and have been diagnosed as suffering from vertigo and I have to walk with sticks to help my balance. What could be causing it and will it get any better?

A VERTIGO is a feeling of spinning when the head is at rest and can have many causes. Two common causes in the elderly are Meniere’s Disease, when the vertigo is accompanied by a ringing in the ears and deafness, and benign positional vertigo, which is usually worse with movement or holding the head in a certain position.
