Tinnitus and stress are undisputedly related
Dear John
I do appreciate you information. Thank you.
I have been reading a lot of research on Tinnitus and have been to a Tinnitus conference in the UK, speakers being those involved in research for many years.
Yes, tinnitus and stress are undisputedly related and I think the hypothesis that the hypothanalamus and pituitary are directly involved in the tinnitus sensation seems more and more likely. One piece of research suggests that those with tinnitus have more delta brain waves rather than alpha. This could possibly suggest that those who suffer tinnitus may experience less awake- resting and reflective behaviour than others.
I think that homeopathy is of great help to tinnitus sufferers. The only thing I have a slight problem with, is that homeopathy does not focus wholly on the symptoms, rather, the whole person, therefore, each remedy should be selected particularly based on a picture of the whole subject. I am sure that your remedies may fit your clients because it is likely that they may well fit the general picture for that remedy.
As I am a student of Human Biology as well as a sufferer, I am most interested in hearing all the newest research and approaches. But one thing is for certain, strees does increase one’s perception of the tinnitus and actually I do believe the tinnitus itself. I believe it stimulates the activity of the hypothalamus, pituitary and the adrenals and thus the hearing sensation is amplified. ie, fight or flight – perhaps stimulating acute hyperacusis.
One thing I would like to ask Ellen, is does her tinnitus remain in the background or does it actually vary a little? I am so pleased for her that it is mainly not a problem.
All the best.
Jacqui
