The eardrums, medically termed as the tympanic membrane, is a delicate, thin skin-like structure in the ear, lying between the outer and middle ear.

Certain ear drum problems can cause tinnitus and loss of hearing, the most common of which is a perforated eardrum. It is a tear that has developed in the eardrum caused by certain factors.

Common causes of eardrum damage include:

exposure to sudden loud noise

infections in the middle ear

inserting objects into the ear

If the cause of a person’s tinnitus is eardrum damage, then the most likely sound that he or she is going to hear is either a humming or buzzing noise.

Although a perforated eardrum can heal by itself, some treatments may have to be employed such as tympanoplasty, a surgical procedure to repair or reconstruct the damaged eardrum.

Eating a spicy food, hot soup, and tea or drinking plenty of water, applying vapor rub to the temple, chest and sinuses, and acupressure are some of these examples.

Many people suffer from ringing ears called tinnitus. The common causes of tinnitus are extreme exposure to loud sounds, over fatigue, mental stress and high dose of antibiotics and aspirin. There is no specific treatment for tinnitus. It may just go away on its own or may stay forever if not treated. How to get rid of ringing ears?

* Limit or avoid exposure to loud noises, such as music, power tools, gunshots, and industrial machinery.

Have you tried to listen to white noise? t this… 20,000 tones mixed all together and played all at the same time at different frequencies. That’s how white noise sounds like. But what exactly is white noise and how it helps human loosen up and doze?

White noise is not actually noise at all. It is a mix of sound frequencies perfect for concentration, stress reduction and relaxation. White noise has also the capability to filter unwanted noises called “masking” and provide a soothing relief to your tinnitus even in a crowded and noisy ambiance.
There are many white noise audio compact discs sold in the market. The noise is digitally mastered to make is sound crisp and clear. It comes in variety of ambiance that fits your listening pleasure. All you need to do is to play your favorite white noise CD or rip it to your PC and save it into .wav or mp3 format if you want to save more disk space. Turn the volume to the lowest setting and slowly increase the volume just loud enough to mask the unwanted, irritating noise.

The first thing you more likely to notice is a huge drop on your stress level and give you a great amount of relief when you listen to white noise. You can comfortably work all through the day without worry of that annoying sound.

Ordering a compact disc is portable and quite cheaper than purchasing a noise machine. Compact disc allows the user to modify the low, mid and high frequencies to mask the background sounds at any time.

We experience sound every day. This sound may be coming from the television, radio, automobiles and even human sound. If a person is exposed to loud sound over a long time, it causes damage to the ear’s sensitive structure and nerves. Some hasty explosive sound such as gun shot can be deafening enough to cause hearing damage.

Tinnitus is a medical term for hearing noises in ear even there is no external source of resonance. Many people with tinnitus hear nonstop buzzing, droning, clicking, pulsing, and whooshing. This is not a serious problem but quite an irritation that can be resolved in time.

Until today, there is no definite remedy for noise in the ear or head. Tinnitus can be evaluated by physical examination, medical records and unique analysis to precisely locate its major source. This procedure can help the doctor to identify whether the tinnitus is continuous, varying or pulsating, or it is related with hearing loss or loss of balance. An audiogram is being used if the tinnitus persists. The patterns of hearing failure may possibly lead doctor to the diagnosis.

Here are some do’s and don’ts that can help you to reduce tinnitus. Remember that the ear is one of the most sensitive parts of the human body. Therefore, it is advised to:

Have a regular exercise. It improves body’s blood circulation.

Avoid if not, reduce your intake of salt when cooking.

Check your blood pressure; if it is high, ask for doctor’s help to put your blood pressure to normal levels.

Stay away from exposure to deafening sounds and noises.

Avoid nerve stimulants such as colas, coffee, tobacco and marijuana.

Reduce nervous anxiety, which may possibly promote stress to the already tense hearing system.

Get enough rest and avoid over fatigue.

Stop worrying about the noise. Discover to ignore it as much as possible.
